What Does a Junior Behavioural Consultant Do?
- Assist Senior Behavioural Consultant with design and implement individualized ABA-based intervention programs for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or other Developmental Disabilities
- Provide on-going monitoring and evaluation of ABA-based intervention programs
- Provide training to behavioural interventionists, parents and/or other related parties
- Provide on-going training, monitoring and evaluation of Behavioural Interventionist
- Assist Senior Behavioural Consultant with conducting assessment activities related to the need for behavioral interventions
- Design and present training workshops / assist with training
- Research the literature related to ABA-based interventions
- Supervise team meetings in the family home, as well as, participate in clinical meetings with relevant professionals
- Participate in monthly clinical team meetings with Clinical Director and other colleagues working with the Family Centred Practices Group
- Design data collection protocols and interpret data to make data-based decisions relative to each child’s program
- Collaborate with Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Preschool Staff, and other professionals with regards to individual child’s program
- Perform functional assessments and design Positive Behaviour Support plans with families, schools and/or community programs
- Provide implementation support for Positive Behaviour Support plans
- Prepare supports and materials
- Provide collaborative support in transitioning children from home-based to school-based programs
- Meet with Clinical Director, Senior Behavioural Consultant and/or Senior Advisor monthly to review client cases
- Seek and obtain feedback from Clinical Director on interventions designed for specific clients
- Collect and prepare notes for clinical review meetings and/or BACB supervision meetings
- Meet clinical competencies
- Maintain professional and ethical standards as outlined by the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Must be pursuing BCBA/BCABA certification
- Must poses or be pursuing a Masters degree in a relevant field
- A minimum of 2-3 years experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as a Behavioural Interventionist (BI)
