What Does a Senior Behavioural Consultant Do?
- Design and implement individualized ABA-based intervention programs for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or other Developmental Disabilities
- Provide on-going monitoring and evaluation of ABA-based intervention programs
- Provide on-going training, monitoring and evaluation of Program Supervisors and Behavioural Consultants
- Provide training to behavioural interventionists, parents and/or other related parties
- Provide on-going training, monitoring and evaluation of Behavioural Interventionist
- Conduct assessment activities related to the need for behavioral interventions
- Provide consultation to families, behavioural interventionists and/or other related parties for on-going ABA-based intervention programs
- Design and present training workshops
- Research the literature related to ABA-based interventions
- Supervise team meetings in the family home, as well as, participate in clinical meetings with relevant professionals
- Participate in monthly clinical team meetings with Clinical Director and other colleagues working with the Family Centred Practices Group
- Design data collection protocols and interpret data to make data-based decisions relative to each child’s program
- Collaborate with Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Preschool Staff, and other professionals with regards to individual child’s program
- Perform functional assessments and design Positive Behaviour Support plans with families, schools and/or community programs
- Provide implementation support for Positive Behaviour Support plans
- Prepare supports and materials
- Provide collaborative support in transitioning children from home-based to school-based programs
- Meet with Clinical Director and/or Senior Advisor to review client cases and/or discuss other business
- Seek and obtain feedback from Clinical Director on interventions designed for specific clients
- Collect and prepare notes for clinical review meetings
- Meet clinical competencies
- Provide mentorship, training and supervision to Program Supervisors and Behavioural Consultants
- Maintain professional and ethical standards as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Remain a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Assist Clinical Director with duties related to the operation of FCPG
- Assist with supervision of BACB applicants (BCBA and BCABA) following the guidelines and requirements set out by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
- Keep a log of BACB supervision sessions and provide documentation for each supervisory period on BACB feedback form
Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Must be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- Must poses a Masters degree in a relevant field
- A minimum of 6 years experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring individualized ABA-based intervention programs for children diagnosed with ASD
- Experience training behavioural interventionists, parents and/or other related parties
- Experience conducting assessment activities related to the need for behavioral intervention
- Experience performing functional assessments and designing Positive Behaviour Support plans with families, schools and/or community programs
